About the Artist/Ensemble
Based out of Richmond, VA since 1991, Bio Ritmo is recognized around the world as one of the most intriguing and influential Salsa bands of the last three decades. Their raw, original sound is rooted in the classic “salsa dura” or “hard salsa” genre that was made popular in the dance clubs of New York City during the 1970’s.
The ten-piece powerhouse performs original music and features lead singer, Puerto Rican native, Rei Alvarez who is backed by full Latin rhythm section (congas, timbales, bongo) piano, electric bass, two trumpets, trombone and tenor sax.
