About the Artist/Ensemble

Born in the Blue Ridge mountains of Roanoke, Virginia, and fueled by an obsession for Afro-Cuban rhythms, Jstop Latin Soul ignites the stage with a bold fusion of Latin grooves, blazing jazz, and gritty soul.  Inspired by legends like Irékere, Papo Vázquez, and Jerry González & the Fort Apache Band, we honor the past while fearlessly pushing into the future—creating a sound that’s both powerful and fresh.

Concert/Performance Description

Jstop Latin Soul has been electrifying stages across the region with their powerful Afro-Cuban and Latin fusion, performing at prominent venues and festivals such as the VMFA Dominion Energy Jazz Café, the National Gallery of Art’s Jazz in the Garden, Floydstock Music Festival, the Salem Jazz Festival, and Jazz in the Park in Staunton, VA. Their high-energy shows and distinctive sound have been highlighted in numerous articles and media features. Jstop Latin Soul recently released their debut album, Rumbalike featuring Ken Hitchcock, capturing their fresh and innovative take on Latin jazz.

Concerts can be structured as either one 90-minute set or two 45-minute sets. Workshops and master classes are also available.

Technical Requirements

Performance area 20’ wide x 12’ deep, preferably risen

PA system to include 2 mains, 6 separate monitors with separate mixes, 13 to 21 inputs (depending on the size and acoustics of the room), standard mics and direct lines for a typical eight piece band, 4 power strips run around the stage, from at least two separate circuits, evenly spread lighting on the stage. Audio or video projection (compatible with MacBook or iPhone) for masterclass (if applicable)

Educational Programs

Educational programs and lectures will feature both video and audio examples, exploring the roots of Afro-Cuban music, from traditional folkloric styles to modern Timba grooves. The workshop or master class will be tailored to fit the needs and skill levels of the participants or schools and is open to all ages.

Fees

Concert performance = $3000

3 hour Master Class (2 to 3 instructors) = $600

Cost for performance, extended travel/accommodations, us providing sound equipment/sound engineer or specific clinics or master class requirements can be negotiated
