About the Artist/Ensemble

For over 40 years Richmond Ballet has achieved its mission to awaken, uplift, and unite human spirits through the power of dance through a range of performance opportunities including classical and intriguing contemporary works, master classes, and lecture demonstrations with audiences throughout Virginia, nationally and internationally.

Our professional company is made up of elite dancers from around the world who have helped earn Richmond Ballet critical acclaim. Dance/USA says Richmond Ballet is “a jewel among U.S. dance companies,” while The Washington Post calls it “a company to which dance fans everywhere ought to pay attention.” We’re proud of all that our company dancers bring to Virginia, and the world.

Richmond Ballet Studio Company
Richmond Ballet Studio Company, our second performing company, is comprised of talented young dancers between the ages of 18 and 22. The Studio Company members perform their own diverse repertoire on tour across the Commonwealth as well as alongside the main company in mainstage productions.

Concert/Performance Description

Richmond Ballet is dedicated to the evolution of ballet as a versatile language of movement that crosses national and cultural boundaries. We seek to draw an ever broader range of artists, students, and audiences to experience the magic of dance through inspiring performances, outstanding training, and meaningful community engagement. Richmond Ballet is known for its captivating, broad repertory that combines classical and contemporary ballets with an impressive collection of over 80 commissioned works. Richmond Ballet’s repertory demonstrates the Company’s versatility and can be programmed to fit many stages.

Technical Requirements

Richmond Ballet Company
Permanent stage no smaller than 32’ wide x 24’ deep (not including the wings) for repertory performances. Story ballet requirements vary by production; please inquire. 

Richmond Ballet Studio Company
Venues, stage size, and minimum production requirements can be designed in consultation with presenters. Cafeterias, gymnasiums, or similar spaces may be used for educational programs. 

Educational Programs

Educational Programs include in-school performances and youth performances complete with teacher guides are available to public and independent schools, as well as, master classes, open rehearsals, workshops and multi-day residencies.

Richmond Ballet Company and Richmond Ballet Studio Company

Repertory performances, multi-day residencies, and full-length story ballets: vary due to subsidies; please inquire. 

Master classes, lecture demonstrations, open company class, and other education and outreach services available; please inquire. 

Virtual lecture demonstrations available; please inquire. 

All fees are negotiable based upon the size and scope of the tour engagement.
