Educational Background/Training
The Noble Blades are comprised of trained and qualified stage combat and theatre professionals that have experience working anywhere from Middle and High School, to higher education, to professional Equity and Regional theatre. Each of our Instructors and Senior Members boast their own unique experiences and journeys, bringing a diverse and skilled bag of tools to any table.
About the Artist/Ensemble
The Noble Blades are dedicated to serving as the greater Washington, D.C. area’s premier professionally trained and community-based stage combat troupe. We promote the education and production of safe, historically accurate and compelling storytelling through dramatic conflict, consent and stage combat throughout the community and the arts.
Educational Program Description
The Noble Blades offer a variety of programming to suit the needs of the community. We run standalone workshops and classes, offer demonstrations, and support full scale productions through instruction and choreography, all with the express goal of promoting safety, confidence and clear storytelling. We have a full catalogue of pre-made workshops available that have been taught at a variety of organisations, schools, and conferences. We also regularly design purpose-built instruction. Along with our regular offerings, the Noble Blades host and help coordinate The Mid-Atlantic Melee, a two-day stage combat and physical theatre conference, which includes a dedicated High School Track.
Technical Requirements
The Noble Blades are equipped with the tools of the trade, including industry standard stage-safe weapons props, and safety equipment such as mats and crash pads. We do require that clients provide suitable space for instruction and events. This can include wide space, high ceilings, and secure spaces with ventilation and temperature control.
Fees
Fees vary based on the programme requested. For standalone workshops, our starting rate is usually $350 per day, covering any amount of instruction in a 6hr period. Demonstrations and Choreography are based on scope, scale, and complexity. Above all, the Noble Blades mission is to support the work and safety of the community.
