Region 1 Commissioner, Vice-Chair
Meet Your Commissioner
How have the arts impacted you?
I began my arts journey at 12. My career path includes working for professional theatre and symphony, arts councils and arts centers. The arts helped me learn and express community, passion, advocacy, voice, entertainment and enlightenment.
How have you seen the arts impact Virginians?
The arts bring people together. They challenge, embrace, unify and comfort. Because Virginia has a broad depth of cultures our cultural fabric is wide and deep. Our children learn about other children, adults broaden their horizons and their minds.
What might someone be surprised to know about you?
That I was an actress in high school, college and almost majored in theatre. I worked in professional theatre early in my career. I also write poetry.
If you could be a world class artist, what would you be/do?
A published poet that taught others to write.
If you had to say what your superpower was, what might that be?
Bringing clarity to confusion. Finding and creating clear paths for success. Leading a team
