The purpose of crediting the Virginia Commission for the Arts and the National Endowment for the Arts is to provide citizens with an accurate picture of the broad range of arts activities supported by their tax dollars. Additionally, this acknowledgement serves as an endorsement for the organization and its activity and often leverages additional support.
VCA grantees are required to acknowledge funding support in accordance with the specific credit requirements of each grant program:
Virginia Commission for the Arts and National Endowment for the Arts Funding Acknowledgement:
- General Operating Support: Medium and Large Arts Organizations | GOS
- Operating Support Small: Small Arts Organizations | OSS
- Community Impact Grants
- Education Impact Grants
Virginia Commission for the Arts Funding Acknowledgement:
- Creative Communities Partnership Grantees
- Virginia Touring Grants
- Arts in Practice Grants
All print and digital material related to the funded activities must include appropriate acknowledgement of the proper funding entities (VCA/NEA or VCA only). This encompasses websites, social media posts, programs, newsletters (both print and online), educational materials, brochures, posters, news releases, catalogues, videos, as well as mentions in curtain speeches and other special events. However, as neither agency funds expenses related to fundraisers, logos/recognition should not be included in such related materials.
For print/online acknowledgment, please use the following:

For radio or television broadcasts, please use the following language:

*Creative Communities Partnership, Virginia Touring, and Arts in Practice Grantees may omit ‘National Endowment for the Arts’.
