The Virginia Commission for the Arts (VCA) announces the selection of disciplines for its annual Artist Fellowship program. This year, Printmaking and Choreography serve as the artistic disciplines, marking Printmaking as a singular and stand-alone discipline for the first time in 35 years, and Choreography for the first time in a decade. The VCA is pleased to present these two multifaceted forms as a means of celebrating and elevating traditional and contemporary practices within the arts.
The Artist Fellowship program embraces a diverse spectrum of Virginia artists innovating in these mediums. Fellowship funding is highly competitive with a limited number of artists receiving awards of up to $5,000 each. Artist Fellowship applicants are evaluated on the consistent quality of their work, record of professional arts achievements, and potential for the grant award to significantly advance the artist’s career.
Applications open July 5 and are due October 2, 2023 by 5:00 p.m. EST. Interested Virginia artists can explore more about the program, eligibility, and application requirements at https://vca.virginia.gov/grant/artist-fellowships/.
“This Artist Fellowship program is incredibly significant in its support to elevate individual artists who call Virginia home” said Margaret Hancock, Executive Director of the Virginia Commission for the Arts. “Each year, Artist Fellows demonstrate how varied and expansive their contributions are to the Commonwealth, and we look forward to investing in those Virginians contributing through Printmaking and Choreography.”
