About the Artist/Ensemble

The Harbor String Quartet (HSQ) was founded in 1997 by members of the Virginia Symphony Orchestra. The group consists of classically trained musicians who perform locally with the Virginia Symphony, Virginia Opera, Virginia Musical Theater and Broadway on Tour. Each member has had extensive quartet experience over the years as a part of HSQ .

Concert/Performance Description

The HSQ’s diverse repertoire includes traditional classical music, rock and alternative requests, as well as jazz standards, Latin, Broadway songs and contemporary pop hits. Members of the group have performed with the Trans-Siberian Orchestra, Tommy Lee Rock Star, Richard Marx, Josh Groban and Mannheim Steamroller, to name a few.

Technical Requirements

Four chairs without arms. Sufficient space for performance (at least 10’x10’). Overhead sufficient lighting. Covering such as a tent or roof if performing outside. Plywood or floor planks on ground if performing in the sand or in the grass. Contact artist for more details.

Educational Programs

Educational Outreach Programs are most popular with schools that nurture string ensembles such as orchestra and chamber music. The Harbor String Quartet is available to coach and guide young musicians with this repertoire, encouraging listening skills, as well as performance techniques. The coaching sessions and masterclasses are not limited to grade students but can be utilized in other groups such as advanced amateurs and church groups.

Fees

  • Concerts: $1,000
  • Coachings, masterclasses, and other educational workshops: $800- $1,000
Fees do not include travel and accommodations. Travel and accommodation expense to be determined by service and location. Discounts offered for multiple bookings. Prices are negotiable.
