The Virginia Commission for the Arts (VCA) announces grant allocations totaling more than $5.1 million into communities, arts organizations, and arts-centric programs across the Commonwealth of Virginia for FY25.
“The arts – and those organizations that engage through the arts – play a crucial role in keeping Virginia vibrant and contributing to our recognition as the ‘Top State for Business for the sixth time,” said Virginia Commission for the Arts Executive Director Margaret Hancock. “We are proud to support those driving this cultural and economic vitality through our grants. Recipients of VCA grants engage more than one third of the state’s citizens through their arts activities and programs, significantly impacting communities across Virginia.”
Grant allocations for FY25 feature:
- 151 General Operating Support for Medium and Large Organizations (GOS) Grants, bolstering arts organizations to continue, strengthen, and expand arts experiences that benefit all Virginians.
- 86 Operating Support Small Grants, increasing support for small and emerging arts organizations central to the vibrancy of Virginia’s communities.
- 108 Creative Community Partnership Grants, catalyzing matching funds exceeding $5.3 million from localities and providing funding for more than 240 arts organizations.
- 19 Community Impact Grants, igniting new and innovative art-based projects or services that reach and impact communities.

- 22 VA250 Impact Grants, facilitating new and innovative art-based programs or services commemorating the 250th Anniversary of the birth of our nation and the American Revolution.
In addition to these grants, the VCA awards an additional 200+ grants throughout the fiscal year through its Virginia Touring and Arts in Practice grant programs. Accepting applications on a rolling basis, these grants extend extraordinary opportunities for state-supported arts programming in every corner of the Commonwealth.
